Jerry and I had intense conversations. He took me to his home in Brooklyn near the cemetery. His mother was home; his twin brother Joel was not. Actually they were originally triplets. One died. I asked Jerry what his brother did. He said, "He's a glazier." Pretending I knew what that was, I said, "Oh." (Jerry had just won the Pulitzer Prize in painting. His brother was not in the art world.) (Now Joel's world famous. I never met him)
